Dean Lee Research and Extension Center ROW CROP PLOT PLANTER Purpose and Use: For planting corn, cotton, grain sorghum, and soybean in small plots appropriate for agricultural research. Must meet or exceed the following specifications: Planting capabilities • Must be capable to plant corn, cotton, grain sorghum, peanut, and soybean at 0 to 3-inch (0 to 7.06cm) depth • Must be capable of planting crops in no tillage, minimum tillage, and conventional tillage situations • Unit must be able to attach to a tractor mounted three-point category 2 quick hitch • Must have GPS or other capability for accurate plot placement eliminating the need for alley sprayers/cutters • Must have adjustable plant population, plot length, and alley length that can be easily/automatically changed • Must be able to plant 2 or 4 row plots • Must have 2 seed splitters, 1st for rows 1 and 2 and the 2nd for rows three and four • Must have two rider's seats with spring or air suspension • One rider will place seed into seed splitter for rows 1 and 2, 2nd rider will place see into seed splitter for rows 3 and 4. • Must be able to plant row widths ranging from 30 to 40 inches (76.2 to 101.6 cm); Item #2. Dean Lee Research and Extension Center GRAIN RESEARCH PLOT PLANTER Purpose and Use: For planting research plots and head rows for grain crops. Warranty, delivery, and training; Must meet or exceed the following specifications: • Must be capable to plant grain sorghum, oat, rice, soybean, and wheat at 0 to 3-inch (0 to 7.06cm) depth • Must be capable of planting large and small seeded cover crops such as cereal rye, vetch, winter pea, clover, radish, mustard, etc. • Must be capable of planting crops in no tillage, minimum tillage, and conventional tillage situations • Unit must have heavy duty steel frame and be able to attach to a tractor mounted threepoint quick hitch • Must have GPS or other capability for accurate plot placement eliminating the need for alley sprayers/cutters • Must evenly distribute seed throughout the plot • Must be able to plant 9 rows on at least 7- or 7.5-inch (17.8 or 19.06 cm) centers with an electrically driven belt cone • Must also be able to plant 6 head rows on at least 7- or 7.5-inch (17.8 or 19.06 cm) centers using an electrically driven magazine attachment • Must include a bulk planting hopper, electrically driven, adjustable rate for grain types • Must include granular fertilizer hoppers for application at planting at variable rates
