Specifications include, but are not limited to: The proposed treatment for the current project area is a prescribed burn. In earlier consultation with SHPO, it was agreed that for this treatment type, in this area, a 30% inventory was appropriate, along with a full Section 106 review of the entire APE. To calculate the 30% survey coverage, past survey efforts and slope have been removed from the APE. Following this SHPO agreement, this project will involve the following: Cultural Resource Identification Efforts. Completion of a cultural resource literature search, background research, data review, etc. of the entire APE (9,366.2 acres; file 1468EastOldWomanPineHollowRxAPE.zip). This will include a required review of relevant documents held only by the Fishlake, including special use permits, historic maps, and cultural resources site data. Please contact the Fishlake archaeologist (Marcel Corbeil) for access to these documents. It will also include a review of standard background research sources such as UtSHPO’s Sego system, General Land Office records, relevant National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) historic contexts, etc. All data cuts need to be obtained through the Archaeology Records staff at UtSHPO. Data cuts directly from the Fishlake NF are not permitted per the Fishlake/SHPO data sharing agreement. Pedestrian intensive level archaeological survey (15m transect intervals) of the survey areas specified as “1468EastOldWomanPineHollowRxSurvey” on the attached map and delineated in the attached shapefiles (1,763 acres). Survey “exclusion” areas are not expected as the Forest has attempted to remove steep slope area – but if areas within the survey area are deemed unsafe, significantly steep, or have significantly dense vegetation, they may be excluded or surveyed at a reconnaissance level in conversation with the Fishlake archaeologist. Such exclusion areas must be documented in the final report and delineated in the associated final project shapefiles. Documentation of all newly documented and previously documented cultural resource sites within the cultural resource inventory areas in accordance with Utah SHPO and USFS guidance. Revisit and document all previously recorded cultural sites within the APE when previous cultural site documentation is more than ten years old. Approximately 25 previously recorded cultural sites are within the APE. These documentation efforts will be completed in accordance with Utah SHPO and USFS guidance.
